"The Lord’s tender mercies are the very personal and individualized blessings, strength, protection, assurances, guidance, loving-kindnesses, consolation, support, and spiritual gifts which we receive from . . . the Lord Jesus Christ."—David A. Bednar The Book of Mormon begins by declaring that readers will read about the Lord's tender mercies (1 Nephi 1:20) and ends with an exhortation to remember God's mercies, to ponder them and ask God if they are true (Moroni 10:3-5). Why would the Book of Mormon be bookended with this message? What can we gain by knowing God is merciful?
